Building Services The goal of the Building Services department is to provide students, staff, faculty, and the community with a clean, sanitary and safe environment in which to teach and learn.  The department manages the recycling of paper, containers and other materials on campus.

Mechanical and Electrical Systems  The Mechanical Systems personnel are responsible for ensuring that all equipment related to the heating and cooling of the campus facilities are operating in a safe and efficient manner, providing students and staff with a comfortable environment.

Campus Safety and Security Department – Hazardous Materials  If you see a chemical spill or smell an unusual odor, please call extension 3411 and report it to Campus Safety and Security.   Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are also housed at Campus Safety and Security.

Washtenaw Biking and Walking Coalition The Washtenaw Bicycling and Walking Coalition promotes transportation options that make sense for a sustainable and livable community. We're dedicated to increasing the quality and quantity of bicycling and walking opportunities in Washtenaw County, Michigan through advocacy and education.

AASHE, the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, is a member organization of colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada working to create a sustainable future. 

National Wildlife Federation Campus Ecology The Campus Ecology program of the National Wildlife Federation promotes climate leadership and sustainability among colleges and universities by providing resources and technical support, creating networking opportunities and organizing education events.

RecycleManiacs RecycleMania is a friendly competition and benchmarking tool for college and university recycling programs to promote waste reduction activities to their campus communities.

Huron River Watershed Council (HRWC) is a coalition of concerned citizens, government groups, and businesses working to improve the health of the Huron River Watershed in southeast Michigan.

The Ecology Center  The Ecology Center is a Michigan-based nonprofit environmental organization that works at the local, state, and national levels for clean production, healthy communities, environmental justice, and a sustainable future.

Sierra Club - Huron Valley Group  The Sierra Club is a non-profit, member-supported, public interest organization that promotes conservation of the natural environment by influencing public policy decisions--legislative, administrative, legal, and electoral.

Natural Area Preservation (NAP) works to protect and restore Ann Arbor’s natural areas and foster an environmental ethic among its citizens.

Wild Ones: Native Plants, Natural Landscapes promotes environmentally sound landscaping practices to preserve biodiversity through the preservation, restoration and establishment of native plant communities.

Earth Policy Institute, dedicated to building a sustainable future as well as providing a plan of how to get from here to there.  Check out Plan B 4.0 Mobilizing to Save Civilization, in which author Lester Brown outlines an ambitious plan that includes cutting carbon emissions 80 percent by 2020, achievable with existing technologies.

Climate Reality Project  The Climate Reality Project, founded and chaired by former Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore, is dedicated to unleashing a global cultural movement demanding action on the climate crisis.  The Climate Reality Project employs cutting-edge communications and grassroots engagement tools to break the dam of inaction and raise the profile of the climate crisis to its proper state of urgency. With a global movement more than 5 million strong and a grassroots network of Climate Leaders trained by Chairman Al Gore, we stand up to denial, press for solutions, and spread the truth about climate change to empower our leaders to solve the climate crisis.
